Where will I be working?

You will be working from your home in the continental US.

Where will my training take place?

Your training will take place in your home over the phone.

Will I be an employee of Oracle Transcription, Inc?

No, you will be an independent contractor.

What is an independent contractor?

An independent contractor is self-employed. As an independent contractor, you are responsible for your time, business equipment, billing, receivables, taxes and many other details.

What will my hours be?

Oracle Transcription does not set any hours for you. You can work whatever hours are most convenient for you to meet your contract line requirements.

How will I get paid?

Oracle Transcription encourages everyone to receive his or her pay through Direct Deposit.  You can, however, choose to have your checks mailed.

What does OTI expect for full or part-time work?

Oracle Transcription expects part-time medical transcriptionist to transcribe a minimum of 3,500 lines per week. Full-time medical transcriptionist are expected to transcribe a minimum of 5,000 lines per week. All medical transcriptionist are asked to give Oracle Transcription two hours of transcription time on Saturday and/or Sunday.  You are free to do this at one sitting, or split it up, whatever is convenient for you.

What kind of equipment and software will I need?

You will need an IBM compatible computer with Windows XP, 512MB RAM/memory, and the IN-USB-I wav pedal.

What else will I need to work for Oracle Transcription, Inc?

You will need a high speed Internet connection. However, if that is not available in your area, unlimited dial-up access is acceptable.
